Staring up at the bright Tennessean sky, the acclaimed Silo mural illustrates a 91 year old man on the side of a 15 story, abandoned silo. The man depicted is based on a real resident of Nashville, Lee Estes, who has lived in the area surrounding the silo, known as The Nations, since the 1920s. The extremely realistic and artistically baffling piece of word was painted by Guido Van Helten, an Australian muralist, as a symbol and cornerstone of The Nation’s history and its hope for the future.
